Club & District Liability Insurance

Every U.S. Rotary club, Rotaract club and district is covered by the U.S. Rotary Club & District Liability Insurance Program. Here is what it covers, where to get your certificate, and who to call.

2026–27 policy year

The program’s policies have been renewed for the policy year beginning 1 July 2026. Your club does not need to buy this coverage or fill anything in — the charge for it appears on the July club invoice from Rotary International, and the new certificate of insurance is already posted on the insurance portal below.

WHAT YOU HAVE

Three kinds of coverage, in plain terms

The U.S. Rotary Club & District Liability Insurance Program (the “U.S. Club Program”) provides all U.S. Rotary clubs, Rotaract clubs and districts with commercial general liability and directors & officers / employment practices liability insurance, subject to the terms and conditions of the policies.

General liability

Covers claims from a third party for bodily injury or property damage — for example, a guest who trips and falls at a club or district event.

Directors & officers

Protects club members and club and district officers against claims alleging wrongful acts, mismanagement, or a breach of duty.

Employment practices

Covers claims arising out of a club’s or the district’s employment practices.

The summaries above describe the program in general terms only. What is and is not covered in any particular situation is governed by the policy documents themselves, which are on the portal.

CERTIFICATES & DOCUMENTS

The U.S. Rotary Insurance Portal

The 2026–27 certificate of insurance, the policy documents, and the loss prevention library all live on the insurance portal, which is hosted by the program’s broker, the Hylant Group. Rotary International issues one shared login for every U.S. club and district — it is not a personal account, so there is nothing to register for.

WHEN A VENUE ASKS TO BE COVERED

Requesting an additional insured endorsement

If a third party — an event venue, a park, a school district, a city — requires your club or the district to name them as an additional insured, submit a request through the online form on the insurance portal, or email the Hylant Group at rotary@hylant.com. Have these five things ready:

  1. A completed certificate of insurance (download it from the portal).
  2. A copy of the written contract or permit with the third party, including its insurance requirements.
  3. The third party’s name and address, worded exactly as they require it to appear.
  4. The full name of your club or district.
  5. Event details — name, date or dates, description, and location.

Start this well before your event. An endorsement is issued by the broker, not by the district, and venues often will not release a booking until they have it in hand.

BEFORE YOU PLAN AN EVENT

Loss prevention resources

The Document Library on the insurance portal holds practical guidance on the situations clubs most often get wrong. Read the relevant guidance while you are planning an event, not after something goes wrong. Topics include athletic events, youth activities, contracts, and more.

Tent & canopy safety

Rotary International has a video on tent and canopy safety in production. It will be posted to the portal’s Document Library when it is released.

Running an activity that involves young people? District 5330’s own requirements are on the Youth Protection page, and they apply in addition to anything the insurance program asks of you.

WHO TO ASK

Contacts

Insurance questions, endorsement requests and certificate problems go to the broker. Claims and program questions go to Rotary International’s risk management team. The district office does not administer this coverage.
