- Scholarships and education
- Health initiatives
- Peacebuilding programs
- Global grants and humanitarian work
The Foundation connects local club service to global impact.
Rotary’s Historic Global Initiative
Rotary launched the PolioPlus program in 1985 with the goal of eradicating polio worldwide. Through partnerships with the World Health Organization, UNICEF, and the Gates Foundation, Rotary has helped reduce polio cases by more than 99%.
Rotarians worldwide continue working toward a polio-free future through fundraising, advocacy, and immunization efforts.
A Global Gathering of Rotary Leaders
Each year, Rotary members from around the world gather at the Rotary International Convention to:
- Celebrate service and impact
- Share ideas and best practices
- Build international friendships
- Learn from global leaders
- Experience the worldwide Rotary family
Rotary International President
Each year, Rotary International is led by a Rotary International President who helps guide Rotary’s global vision and priorities. The RI President works alongside Rotary leaders worldwide to inspire clubs, strengthen membership, and promote Rotary’s mission of service and peace.
A Rotarian since 1984, Babalola joined the Rotary Club of Trans Amadi a decade later and has served as district governor (2011–12), RI vice president (2019–20), and an RI Board member (2018–20). He has been a long-time leader on the End Polio Now Countdown to History Campaign Committee and the Nigeria National PolioPlus Committee. An engineer by training, he spent 25 years in the oil and gas industry — including senior roles at Shell — before founding Riviera Technical Services and Lead and Change Consulting. He and his wife Preba live in Port Harcourt; he supports The Rotary Foundation as an Arch Klumph Society member and serves as a trustee of ShelterBox UK.
Larry A. Lunsford has served Rotary as district governor (2001–02), RI director (2013–15), and a trustee of The Rotary Foundation (2021–25), including a year as its vice chair (2024–25). He has chaired the RI Executive Committee, the Membership Growth Committee, and the Nominating Committee for President. A certified public accountant who earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in accounting from Truman State University, he worked seven years at Ernst & Young before joining Bernstein-Rein Advertising in 1990, where he is executive vice president and chief financial officer. A former Rotary Foundation Ambassadorial Scholar, he and his wife Jill have two children and one grandchild.
Principles and values that shape how we serve
- Service Above Self
- The Four-Way Test
- Fellowship and Integrity
- Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
- Leadership through Service
Of the things we think, say, or do:
- 1Is it the TRUTH?
- 2Is it FAIR to all concerned?
- 3Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?
- 4Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?
The Four-Way Test continues to guide Rotarians in their personal, professional, and service lives.
