Quick facts for parents and students
The essentials — when, who, how, and what it costs.
A weekend that changes how a kid sees themselves.
Every year, hundreds of 7th grade students across Riverside and San Bernardino Counties arrive at PRYDE unsure of what to expect. Some are quiet. Some are nervous. Some have never spent a weekend away from home. But by the end of the experience, they leave more confident, more connected, and believing in themselves in ways they never imagined possible.
PRYDE — the Personal Rotary Youth Development Experience — is one of Rotary District 5330’s most impactful youth leadership programs. Designed specifically for middle school students, PRYDE creates a space where young people are encouraged to discover their strengths, find their voice, and realize they are capable of leading both themselves and others.
Throughout the weekend at Thousand Pines Conference Center in Crestline, students participate in leadership activities, team-building challenges, small-group discussions, recreation, and inspiring keynote sessions. But the real impact happens in the moments between the activities — when students encourage one another, open up about challenges, step outside of their comfort zones, and begin to see their own potential.
Rotarians, educators, alumni, and student leaders come together to make the experience possible. Volunteers serve as mentors, discussion leaders, guides, and role models, creating an environment where students feel seen, valued, and supported. Rotary Clubs throughout District 5330 sponsor students because they believe investing in youth today helps build stronger communities tomorrow.
For many students, PRYDE becomes a turning point. Students return to their schools more confident, more involved, and more willing to take positive risks. They leave camp understanding that leadership is not about being the loudest person in the room — it is about character, empathy, service, and the ability to positively impact others.
PRYDE is more than a camp. It is Rotary in action — empowering young people, building future leaders, and changing lives one student at a time.
