The Rotary Peace Fellows program is a major endeavor of The Rotary Foundation with the goal of training leaders who will promote national and international cooperation, peace, and the successful resolution of conflict throughout their lives, in their careers, and through service activities.

Fellows can earn either a master’s degree in international relation, peace studies, conflict resolution, and related areas, or a Professional Development Certificate in peace and conflict resolution.

Prospective candidates and Rotarians are first directed to the Rotary International website. Virtually all relevant information about the program and the selection procedures is found there.

The application must be sent electronically to Rotary International. The applications will then be forwarded to District 5330 for processing.

The deadline to submit completed applications to Rotary International is 1 July for academic study beginning the following year.

Master’s degree fellowships at 5 premier universities in fields related to peace and conflict resolution and prevention are awarded. Programs last 15­–24 months and require a practical internship of 2–3 months during the academic break.

Rotarians and prospective applicants are also encouraged to read and review the Resources and References offered on the Rotary Peace Fellowship site. These documents describe in greater detail the selection process and, in a few instances, provide further information about what some Peace Centers are looking for in candidates. In brief, all Masters Candidates should hold a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college and have at least three years’ work experience in one of the areas named in the first paragraph above.

Please note that selection as a Peace Fellow by Rotary does not guarantee admission into the university; candidates need to know that this is a separate process and is the responsibility of the candidate, not Rotary International, the sponsoring Club or sponsoring District.

Financial note: the Peace Fellow program is sponsored and funded by The Rotary Foundation. The sponsoring Rotary Club and District have no financial obligation to the candidate. It should be noted that when there is a substantial need on the part of a candidate, clubs have the option of providing support to enable the candidate to participate in the District interviews.

District 5330 is an international District and may submit as many applicants as they deem qualified for competition in the annual selection process. Candidates must either be (a) permanent resident of District 5330 or (b) a temporary resident of District 5330 as a result of attending a college with the District.

Interested candidates must be endorsed by a District 5330 Rotary Club and are encouraged to interface with a District 5330 Rotary Club as soon as they are interested. All applications must be complete and sent electronically to Rotary International by not later than 1 June . District interviews will be scheduled to occur at the District Conference which is scheduled for May/June each year.
