DEI stands for diversity, equity, and inclusion. It’s an umbrella term that refers to policies, programs, strategies, and practices that aim to create and sustain a diverse, equitable, and inclusive environment.

To reduce friction and increase the effectiveness of DEI programs, organizations LIKE ROTARY CLUBS can try these strategies:

  • Ensure that CLUBS communicate the reasons behind DEI efforts
  • Focus on the positive role that all MEMBES can play
  • Listen to and address MEMBER concerns

These two September holidays are particularly both uniting and divisive in our world today:

Patriot Day – September 11

On September 11, we remember the heroes and the victims of the tragic events that occurred on September 11, 2001. Take time to honor the lives lost in the attacks on the World Trade Center in New York City, the crash of the United Airlines Flight 93 in Pennsylvania, and the Pentagon in Washington, D.C.  Today, reflect on the importance of unity and the commitment to fight for freedom during times of adversity.

International Day of Peace – September 21

This United Nations Day encourages the world to call for nonviolence and a ceasefire. It promotes peace and harmony and a variety of events that promote tolerance and understanding are held throughout the world.
